Quickstart

Install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/codr1/hashd-code/main/install.sh | bash

The installer provides a Python 3.11+ runtime (bootstrapping uv when your system has none), puts hashd on your PATH, fetches SHA-verified forge CLIs, installs the bundled diff viewer and secrets scanner, and starts the local hashd services. It finishes by running hashd doctor. Rerun it to update.

The installer is the supported install path. hashd is also available as wf and ha.

Requirements

  • git, the only OS-level prerequisite.
  • At least one coding agent. Claude Code is the default for every stage; Codex is fully supported. Agent CLIs are npm packages, so they need Node.js 20 or newer.
npm i -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code
npm i -g @openai/codex

The installer brings the forge CLIs for GitHub (gh), GitLab (glab), Bitbucket (bkt) and Gitea (tea). Authenticate the one you use, for example gh auth login.

Verify your setup

hashd doctor

Register a project

# register an existing local repository with the setup wizard
hashd project add /path/to/your/repo

# or clone and register in one step
hashd project add /path/to/repo --clone https://github.com/user/repo

The wizard detects your forge and build system, and asks for your build and test commands.

Take a story from requirement to merge

# discover stories from REQS.md, or create one directly
hashd plan
hashd plan list
hashd plan claim 1
hashd plan story "add user authentication"

# read the acceptance criteria, then accept the story
hashd show STORY-0001
hashd approve STORY-0001

# run it: creates a workstream and starts the gated loop
hashd run STORY-0001 --loop

# follow it live
hashd watch

# handle gates as needed
hashd approve <workstream>
hashd reject <workstream> -f "feedback"
hashd answer list

# merge, then trace where the code came from
hashd merge <workstream>
hashd lineage STORY-0001

The terminal dashboard

hashd watch connects to the running services and shows everything live. It never starts services itself: if they are down, it tells you, and hashd restart brings them back.
