Get started

Your first story, requirement to merge.

One command installs hashd and everything it needs: the runtime, the server, the forge CLIs, the diff viewer and the secrets scanner. You bring git and a coding agent.

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/codr1/hashd-code/main/install.sh | bash

Free in solo mode for individuals and teams of up to 10 engineers. Linux and macOS; on Windows, run it inside WSL. Pricing

  1. Have git and an agent

git is the only system prerequisite. You also need at least one coding agent: Claude Code is the default for every stage, and Codex is fully supported. Agent CLIs are npm packages, so they need Node.js 20 or newer.

    npm i -g @anthropic-ai/claude-codenpm i -g @openai/codex
  2. Install hashd

The installer sets up the runtime, puts hashd on your PATH, starts the local services and finishes by running a health check.

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/codr1/hashd-code/main/install.sh | bashhashd doctor
  3. Sign in to your agent

Authenticate each agent you plan to use, the same way you would on its own. hashd agents shows what is installed and healthy.

claude# opens a browser to sign incodex loginhashd agents
  4. Register a repository

The setup wizard detects your forge and build system and asks for your test command. Or clone and register in one step.

hashd project add /path/to/your/repo # or clone and register togetherhashd project add /path/to/repo --clone https://github.com/you/repo
  5. Plan a story

Write what you want in REQS.md and let discovery propose stories, or create one directly. Read the acceptance criteria, then accept it.

hashd planhashd plan listhashd plan claim 1# or skip discoveryhashd plan story "add a log out button"hashd approve STORY-0001
  6. Run it and watch

Running the story creates an isolated workstream and starts the gated loop. It returns immediately; the work keeps going in the background, and you follow it live.

    hashd run STORY-0001 --loophashd watch
  7. Review, approve, merge

Answer any clarifications, approve at the gates, then merge directly or through a pull request. Then ask the new code where it came from.

    hashd approve <workstream>hashd merge <workstream>hashd lineage STORY-0001

Rolling out to a team?

We work closely with a small group of design partners: hands-on onboarding, a direct line to the people building hashd, and a real say in what we build next.
